The Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (Ciarb) invites members to respond and provide views on the consultation paper issued this month by the UK Government on implementation of the Singapore Convention on Mediation (Singapore Convention), which it
signed on 3 May 2023.

The Singapore Convention is a multilateral private international law (PIL) convention that provides a framework for the effective recognition and enforcement of international commercial settlement agreements resulting from mediation. Ahead of the UK ratifying the Convention, this consultation paper seeks views on certain proposals and options for how the Convention might be implemented and could operate in the UK.

The questions in the consultation paper cover areas which did not form part of the consultation undertaken during the signing of the Singapore Convention back in 2023.

View the consultation paper.

Ciarb welcomes this step by the UK Government towards ratification of the Singapore Convention. We are seeking responses from Ciarb members via this form or over email to policy@ciarb.org.

The deadline to send responses to Ciarb is 6 October 2025
