Overview
This workshop will take you through the arbitration process from the beginning to the first meeting between the parties’ counsel and the arbitral tribunal, including:
– Drafting an effective arbitration clause
– Starting an arbitration for a claimant
– Responding to an arbitration for a respondent
– Appointing an arbitral tribunal to enhance your prospects of winning
– Preparing for and conducting the first procedural meeting with the arbitral tribunal
– Practical logistical and procedural considerations that may arise in the early stages of an arbitration.
The workshop will be facilitated by senior members of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (Ciarb), Barbados Chapter, bringing significant practical experience to each session, and Hon. Barry Leon, a Vice-Chair of the Ciarb Caribbean Branch and a Co-Chair of the Caribbean Task Force of the Institute for Transnational Arbitration (ITA), one of the workshop’s supporting organisations.
