Associate members

Associate membership is awarded to individuals who have demonstrated a basic understanding of alternative dispute resolution (ADR) in at least one discipline. This grade is suitable for professionals who have completed relevant training or have foundational knowledge of ADR and wish to develop their expertise further. Associate members are recognised as part of the global Ciarb community and may use the designation ACIArb while progressing towards higher levels of professional membership. As an Associate member, your profile will feature in Ciarb’s Member’s Directory.

Requirements

If you’re interested in becoming an Associate member, you must complete one of the following qualifications as part of the pathways to Associate membership: 

1. The Ciarb Assessment route - successfully complete any one of Ciarb’s Introduction modules assessments; *you must apply for membership within two years of completion.

2. The Recognised Course Provider route - successfully complete an accredited assessment with one of Ciarb’s active Recognised Course Providers (RCP); *you must apply for membership within two years of completion.

3. The Experience route – have a minimum of six months first-hand experience in dispute avoidance or dispute management in a professional capacity.

 

You can become an Associate grade (ACIArb) member of Ciarb by applying via the Equivalent Practical Knowledge (EPK) route. 
To qualify, you will need to demonstrate at least six months of professional experience in dispute avoidance or dispute management in demonstrating foundational knowledge across all areas of Ciarb’s ADR competence framework.

What does Associate membership cost?

All new membership applications must be accompanied by payment of the first year’s subscription fee and a one-off, non-refundable application fee. The application fee is £130 or £75, depending on your country of residence. 

Ciarb membership is charged on an annual basis. Your first year’s subscription fee will be calculated on a pro-rata basis, depending on the date your application is submitted.
